Chapter 5 Service
TCP and UDP protocols provide different services. These services have an
associated port number, for example Telnet = 23, FTP = 21, SMTP = 25, POP3 = 110,
etc. The CS-2001 provides control over access to these services using Pre-defined
and Custom settings.
Pre-defined: Provides the most common TCP and UDP services.
Custom: Allows customization of the port numbers and their associated TCP
and UDP services.
Note:
1. Policy Object > Service > Group provides a convient means to manage a group of different
services. For example, a single IP address may access five different services from a server (e.g.
HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3 and Telnet). If the services are not grouped into one under Policy
Object > Service > Group, then five individual policies for each of the five services will
need to be created under Policy.
